This week was "Week of the Young Child" and we celebrated at work by having fun themes every day.  Tuesday was pajama day and all of us teachers love that day.  This is Susi (our cook) who went all out for it.  It was funny because every time she walked into our room she would scare some of our babies.  So by the end of the day she would just knock on our door and we would hand her our dishes so she didn't have to come it.  Every other day the babies love her!  Some of the other themes were backwards day, sports day, funny hat/hair day and rainbow day (each age group had a different color).  It was alot of fun!
Saturday night a bunch of us teachers got together and did a scavenger hunt around the Rockford area.  It was alot of fun even if we didn't win.  We had clues that we had to guess the answer then have our picture taken in front of the sign of the destination.   This is Michele in front of the Burpee Museum where Jane the dinosaur is.  We also went to the big orange Rockford symbol, Showplace 16, Coronado...
me in front of the Mrs. Fisher's chips sign
and Amanda with one of our many sock monkeys around town.  I think this is where we lost the game.  We needed a picture with one of the monkeys, but couldn't figure out where one was that wasn't in a closed building (it was Sat. night and nothing was open).  When we got back they told us there was one in the entrance to the hospital.  I KNEW THAT!!!!!  I was so mad at my self for not thinking about it!   Oh well, we had fun anyway.
After we went out to dinner with everyone and got to spend some time chatting without a bunch of screaming kids around us.  :)  It was a fun time!

Amazing concert!!!!

I went to a Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman concert last night with my friend Sara.  It was amazing!!!!  At first, we were a little upset because the seats we were sitting in were blocked by a big speaker and we couldn't see anything but the band.  Once the concert started, we noticed that there were lots of seats open so we moved down closer...Much better!!!!
This was my 5th MWS concert but I don't think I have seen SCC in concert (or not that I can remember).  He has such an amazing story after all that his family has been through the last year.  It is amazing to see what God has done in their lives after such a horrible accident.  The guitarist on the left is his oldest son.  His other son was on the drums for a few songs and his oldest daughter was there helping with other things.
My favorite part was seeing both of them together on the stage.  They were funny to watch when they started singing the other person's songs.
And of course I loved the MWS portion of the concert!!!!
A special guest joined them for a few songs also...Geoff Moore!  I can't believe there were three big name artists on one stage!!
I took alot of videos since it was so entertaining to see them together.  I hope I don't bore you with all of them.  They are short and get a little blurry, but fun to watch.

SCC singing "Cinderella".  He said it was on of the hardest songs to sing again after everything he has been through.

This is them playing their favorite songs from the other artist.  Very fun to watch!!!

Singing "Friends".  Kind of gave it a new meaning after hearing SCC talk about his daughter and everyone coming to his side.

Geoff Moore joining in on some worship.

I even got to go eat at Cheddar's before the concert...yummmm.  It was a great night and so much fun!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone!  I hope you all enjoyed the day we get to celebrate what Christ did for us.  I started out my day going to Hope for church (which meets at Hononegah PAC for Easter) and sitting with Shannon and the kids.  It was a wonderful service and I enjoyed watching having Lydia there for some of the service.  When Pastor Bob got up to do the welcome, she kept saying that he was the "new Pastor Bob".  I don't know if it was because we were in a new place or what, but I thought it was cute.

After church I was going to go home and take it easy for the afternoon before going to Shannon and Josh's for dinner.  I had just gotten home when I got a call from Grandma saying that she was in a accident.  She said she was ok, but her car wasn't drivable.  I rushed out there and found the front end of her car damaged.  She was pretty shaken up but seems to be just fine.  We are thankful no one was hurt!!

Finally we went over to Shannon and Josh's to enjoy a wonderful dinner.  We started out watching Lydia hunt for eggs.  It was so much fun and another wonderful picture opportunity.  I couldn't choose just one picture, so I posted a few.

I love this one!  I like her face and that you can tell just how fast she was moving by her pigtails.  She loved the hunt!!!

Daddy helping find the last few eggs.
Joshua also got lots of attention with all the grandmas, grandpa and aunts there.  He loved having us all there too!
It has been a very eventful day, but we have so much to be thankful for!

Birthday Celebration

Today was Grandma's birthday so Shannon and the kids and I went over for breakfast.  There was alot of food for us, and it was so good!!  Lydia loved being there and exploring Grandma's new apartment.  I even took her for a walk to see the pool and ran into some of Grandma's friends who were so excited to see her.  They said they have heard alot about her.  Lydia also liked helping Grandma with the gifts.  Here she is helping with the earrings and the bracelet that my Aunt and Uncle got her.
Joshua was so cute!  He needed a nap but isn't used to not sleeping in his crib.  He finally fell asleep in Mommy's arm.
Then Grandma took a turn playing with him.  He loved it!

Then Grandma read a few Mother Goose riddles to them.  It was so cute, and a great picture opportunity.
Joshua with his firetruck.
Joshua had one of Bella's toys and she was very good and gentle with him when she was trying to get it back.  He thought it was fun too.
Here is a video of Grandma playing with Joshua.  I love how Lydia likes it just as much as he does.

Here she is reading to them.  So cute!!!

I had fun seeing everyone and enjoying good food.  :)  I look forward to celebrationg Easter tomorrow!!!

Melissa's wedding shower

Today was Melissa's bridal shower at the church.  It was alot of fun and went very smooth.  I enjoyed helping with everything and getting to see some people I haven't seen in awhile.
The cake/punch table.  The picture frame had pictures of Thomas and Melissa.
The table at the entry way with envelopes and cards
Talking to the "moms"
Gifts!!!!
Now we are one step closer to the wedding!  Can't wait!!!

Baby shower

We had the baby shower for one of the teacher's at work and my cake went over good.  My boss still thinks that I need to make money off of these...she says "on the side of course". :)  I thought it looked very cute with all the decorations, I had to share it!

Diaper Cake #2

So we found out that one of the girls I work with me has been trying to adopt a baby for awhile now and just found out she will be getting a baby next week.  She is very excited because it is going to be a brand new baby...she will get to take her home from the hospital!!  So, all of us at work are throwing her a shower.  A bunch of us got together and are giving her a diaper cake.  I made one for Shannon at her shower for Joshua and really enjoyed doing it so I (along with Amanda's help) volunteered to make it instead of order one.  I think it turned out great!!!

Every one at work says I am in the wrong profession and need to get into making these!  I like making them and think they turn out great, but I don't think I will be giving up my job any time soon.  I will just stick with making them for people close to me for now.  :)
