Memorial Day

I got to have the whole day off yesterday since it was Memorial day! It was nice to be able to get a few things done around the apartment. Josh and Shannon were nice enough to invite Shelley and I over for BBQ chicken and ribs. Since I don't really care for pork the chicken was delicious!! I also got to spend more time with Lydia. It was really nice out and when I got there she was playing outside in her pool.
They also invited their neighbors over and after dinner they wanted to see Buddy (Shannon's pet lizard).
It was cute to see him out on his little leash and he didn't seem to scared.
This picture I added for my mom. I brought dessert over and experimented and made a chocolate ice cream pie. It was more of a chocolate pudding pie with a little ice cream mixed in. It was really good I thought! I also make a strawberry Jello poke cake that Lydia loved!

my night with Lydia

Tonight Lydia and I are having a slumber party!! We have had a great time. I picked her up about 4 today and have been busy ever since. We started by going to say hi to Michelle for a little bit then came back to my apartment. I fixed dinner while she watched "Ratatouille" (which she loved!).
Then I decided to make some cookies to take to Grandma tomorrow and she wanted to help. It took a little bit longer than normal, but it was so much fun!
The whole time we were mixing she kept trying to stick her fingers into the bowl and I kept telling her she had to wait. Finally I gave her the spatula and a beater to lick and she was happy.
She takes after her Aunt Stacey...this is my favorite part of baking too! She liced it till there was nothing left.
Ymmmmm! They are good cookies. Nothing like a cookie before bed :)
Between Shannon and my schedules, I haven't gotten to see much of Lydia other than at church. So I really enjoyed tonight! I wish I lived just a little closer (like 20 min. is so far away)to them so I could see her more during the week.

Grandma's surgery

Grandma had her surgery last Friday and it went so good! She was only in there for a little over an hour then in recovery for about an hour. Her doctor said that was unusual for someone her age. It can take alot longer for them to come out of the anesthesia. Now she is in rehab, which is at Wesley Willows, where she lives. It is very nice because she is only about 2 or 3 minutes from my work. I cant believe how good she looks and feels. Tonight she was out walking other people that had the same surgery a over a week ago! She will be out of there in no time!

Mother's Day

Since today was Mother's day and Mom and Dad are in Texas it was a little strange since I am used to doing something for the day with them. It turned out to be a really nice day though! After church Shannon, Josh, Lydia, Shelley, Grandma and I went out to lunch. It was nice to all be together. Then Shelley and I went to Grandmas house (Shannon and Josh had to go home for Lydia's nap) and watched her open her mother's day gifts. She was really cute...she reminded me of a little girl excited about her gifts. Aunt Joan gave her a pearl bracelet from Hawaii and Uncle Jim gave her a music box. Then my mom gave her a purse with some gift cards to go shopping when she comes this summer and when Grandma's knee is better. She really liked that!

This is her on the phone with my mom. She was trying to let her listen to the song that the music box was playing. I thought it was funny :)

I think we all had a great day! I hope you did too mom...we missed you!

Breakfast with Grandma

Saturday I decided to take Grandma out for breakfast for Mother's day. I also figured it would be her last big outing before her knee surgery this Friday. We went to Millies pancake house where we used to go with Grandpa and the whole family. It has been a while since our last visit so it was really fun to go. She had alot of fun being out and going in all the little shops.

Mother's day gifts

I thought you would like to see what I did with the babies at work for their Mother's day gifts. I think they turned out really cute! All the mom's seemed to really enjoy it.
They got to paint the pots... as much as they could at least :)

Beth's wedding

Beth's wedding was on Sat. and I had so much fun! The ceremony went great with no major problems and the reception was a blast! This is Beth and I doing place cards with the maid of honor last Wednesday night. We did her bachelorett party on Thursday night. We all met for some dinner and dessert then went bowling. It was alot of fun even though none of us are very good.

A few of the girls at the bowling alley. They gave us free flashing necklaces since it was a bachelorette party. It doesn't take much to amuse us! :)
